Summary
1. How does the Mentions feature in rankingCoach work?
Mentions Monitoring helps you track where and how your business is mentioned online. It includes everything from social media posts and blogs to reviews, forums, and news articles. It provides a comprehensive overview of your online visibility, allowing you to stay informed about conversations surrounding your brand and respond quickly when needed.
“Mentions” are text snippets from various online sources that contain references to your business name. You can also refine your results by combining your business name with specific keywords, ensuring you only track the topics that matter most to you. This feature is exclusively available to rankingCoach 360 users.
All of your tracked mentions can be found in the left-hand menu of your rankingCoach dashboard. Simply navigate to “Web Reputation” and then select “Mentions”.
RankingCoach scans major search engines like Google and social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) to find online mentions of your business, including news articles, posts, blogs, and websites. Each mention appears in a clear card layout and includes:
Highlighted text snippet: Shows the exact context in which your business was mentioned.
A direct link to the source: A clickable link that takes you directly to the original source, where you can view the full content.
Sentiment Tag: An automatically generated tag that indicates whether the mention is positive, neutral, or negative. This helps you quickly assess the overall tone of online conversations about your business and prioritize accordingly.
2. How can you customize your mention tracking?
To help you gain more specific insights, you can filter your business's mentions by:
Source: View mentions only from the web or from specific social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, or X (Twitter).
Sentiment: Filter by positive, neutral, or negative mentions to quickly identify trends or issues.
Search query: Filter results by the keywords you're tracking.
In the Settings section on the right side of the page, you can add up to 10 custom search queries or keywords that you want to track alongside your business name. This helps you monitor mentions related to specific topics or product areas.
To make the most of this feature, we recommend selecting keywords such as:
Your product or service names: (e.g., “rankingCoach 360,” “Local SEO service”) to capture direct discussions about your offerings.
Relevant industry-specific terms: (e.g., “small business marketing,” “online visibility tips”) to track broader conversations that impact your niche.
Key competitor names: (e.g., “competitor X software”) to understand market dynamics and stay informed about your rivals.
