Summary
1. Why a complete and accurate business profile matters
In today's digital world, a strong online presence is essential. Your business profile is your online storefront, providing essential information to potential customers. A complete and accurate profile increases your search engine visibility, builds credibility, and facilitates customer connections. It ensures that you're easily found by those looking for your products or services. A well-optimized profile is the key to online success.
2. Building your business profile in rankingCoach for success
During the rankingCoach onboarding process, you'll provide core business information such as name, website, email, phone number and address, either manually or automatically by our AI. This forms the basis of your profile. Once your project is activated, you can ensure that your business profile is set up correctly by navigating to “Online Presence” and then to “Business Profile” in the left menu of your rankingCoach dashboard.
Essential Business Information
Business Name: Make sure the name is exactly as it appears on your website, legal documents, and marketing materials. Your business name should always be the same across all online platforms, including your Google Business Profile, social media, and online directories.
Website: Your website URL helps customers find your business and allows Google to connect your profile with your website. Use your official domain name (e.g., www.joespizza.com) and avoid redirect links or tracking URLs.
Email & Phone Number: These details are critical for customer communication and are mandatory for synchronization with online directories. Use a professional business email (e.g., contact@joespizza.com) and ensure your phone number is identical across all platforms, as it serves as a trust signal for Google.
Address & Business type: Select your business type, whether you have a physical location or not. If your business has a physical address, adding a complete and accurate address helps customers locate your business and improves your chances of ranking in local searches. Business categories: Choosing the right primary and additional categories helps search engines and directories correctly classify your business. Avoid choosing irrelevant subcategories just to show up in more searches - accuracy is more valuable than quantity. Read more: “How to choose the right business category for your business profile”
Opening Hours
Clearly defining your opening hours is critical to customer convenience. Let customers know when they can reach you, whether it's by phone, in person, or online. You can even specify 24/7 availability for online shops, or add notes such as “The shop is open 24/7, but our support is available between 9am and 5pm”.
Business Description
Your business description is your opportunity to tell your story and connect with potential customers. Use relevant keywords and write a concise, engaging description that highlights your unique selling points, products, and services. Make it informative and compelling to encourage customers to learn more about your business. Keep it customer-focused - instead of “We are the best plumbing company”, say “We provide reliable and affordable plumbing solutions for homeowners and businesses”. Images and Logo
Visuals are essential to building brand recognition and creating a positive first impression. Upload a high-quality main photo, your logo, and at least 3-5 additional images that showcase your products, services, team, or location. Make sure your images are professional and visually appealing to make your business more attractive and personable. Learn more here: “How can you optimize photos for better SEO rankings?”
3. Understanding the Business Profile Completion Score
Your rankingCoach dashboard gives you an overview of the most important insights from your online marketing activities and what still needs to be done with your account. In the “Online Presence” section, you'll see a “Business Profile Completion” score that indicates how well your profile is set up.
A score of 60% means that only the required information (business name, address, phone number, and category) has been completed.
A higher score (80% or higher) ensures better local visibility and increases your chances of appearing in search results and online directories.
Click “Complete Business Profile” from your dashboard to add the missing information. A higher profile completion percentage means your business information is fully optimized, making it easier for customers and search engines to find and trust your business.
4. Expand your reach with online directory synchronization
Once your business profile is complete, rankingCoach FREE users can sync it with Google Business Profile and Facebook, and rankingCoach 360 users can additionally sync it with other online directories. Syncing your profile with relevant online directories significantly expands your online reach and improves local SEO. Completing your business profile with accurate, optimized, and consistent details ensures better search engine rankings, higher customer engagement, and fewer errors when syncing with directories. Regularly updating your profile ensures accuracy and consistency across all platforms.
