Headings are like titles and subtitles that you can use to structure your text and help your readers get a clearer view of your content. There are several types of headings with different levels of importance. The most important one is H1, you can use it as the main title of your page. Then you can use less important headings, like H2 and H3, to further structure the main body of your content.
However, headings are not only useful for your visitors. From a SEO perspective, they also help you get better rankings in search results because they enable you to put emphasis on your keywords.
How does it work? Headings are created thanks to heading tags integrated in the <body> section of your source code. The heading tags indicate to search engines that they should give priority to the text between those tags when evaluating your website. Headings make it easier for search engines to crawl your website, to find your keywords and therefore to understand what your pages are about so that search engine robots can match your pages to the keyword searches by a potential visitor.

You should only have one H1 heading per page. However, don’t hesitate to use the other types of headings more than once to structure your text.
When writing your headings, make sure to integrate your keywords and, if you are operating locally, you should also mention the region or city where you are active. You don’t have to integrate all of your keywords in the same heading, they can be spread over different ones. However, your top keyword for the selected page should be in your H1. Also, make sure to write natural phrases that will make sense for your readers and not simply list your keywords.
Note that the ideal length for your headings is between 50 and 70 characters, so try to stay within those limits.
