Summary
1. Why a social media planner is essential for your business
A social media planner is a tool that helps businesses organize, schedule, and manage content across platforms in advance. Instead of posting on the fly, you can plan strategically - saving time, improving consistency, and increasing results.
Key benefits include:
Increased brand visibility and recognition: Frequent posts keep your brand top of mind. For example, a local bakery can schedule weekly posts showcasing their pastries to ensure customers think of them for their next visit.
Improved customer engagement: Scheduled posts encourage interactions at optimal times. A boutique should post outfits during peak Instagram hours, encouraging more comments.
Efficient time and resource management: Planning posts reduces daily tasks. A marketing agency can dedicate weekly hours to scheduling client posts, freeing up time for other work.
Easier performance tracking: Regular posting provides more data to analyze successful topics and timings. Learn more: Keep track of your social media insights with rankingCoach
More diverse and creative content: Visual scheduling eliminates repetitive posts. A tech company can easily mix product updates, how-to's, industry news, and behind-the-scenes content.
Smarter targeting and strategy: A structured planner supports more strategic campaign planning across platforms, tailored to your audience. Learn more: Step-by-step guide to creating an effective social media strategy for your business
2. Plan, schedule, and manage your posts with the calendar view
The calendar view in the rankingCoach Social Media Planner gives you a clear visual overview of all your upcoming posts, events and boosted posts in one place. This feature allows you to stay organized and maintain a consistent publishing rhythm across all your connected platforms.
You'll find the calendar under “Social” and then “Planner” in your rankingCoach dashboard. From there, you can easily switch between monthly, weekly, or daily views, depending on how detailed you want your planning to be. All items are color-coded by type (e.g. posts, events, boosts, drafts) so you can see what's planned at a glance.
The calendar is fully interactive: drag and drop items to new dates or time slots, click items to preview or edit them, and drag saved drafts from the right-hand menu directly into the calendar. Whether you're planning a last-minute post or reshuffling a campaign, the calendar view makes social media scheduling intuitive and efficient.
3. Use the Series Planner to create and automate multi-post campaigns
Creating regular, strategic content doesn't have to be time-consuming. With rankingCoach's AI-powered Series Planner, you can plan and schedule up to 10 posts at a time - ideal for product launches, promotions, or educational series. This feature makes it easy to maintain an active and engaging presence on your social platforms without daily effort. Not sure what to post? To get started, go to the Planner section and click on “Create a series”.
Step 1: Start by entering a clear and concise description of what the posts will be about. This is important for the AI to understand the topic and tone. Then select the platforms you'd like to publish to - Google, Facebook, and/or Instagram.
Step 2: Select how many posts you want to include in the series (between 2 and 10). Then set the start and end dates. The AI will use this range to distribute your posts evenly - or in a custom pattern, depending on your next selection.
Step 3: Select the frequency, or how you want the posting intervals to evolve:
Constant: Posts are evenly spaced, ideal for weekly episodes (e.g., podcast announcements every Monday).
Increasing: Posts become more frequent over time. Great for building up to a big event or launch (e. g. Music Festival).
Decreasing: Posts are more frequent in the beginning and slow down over time. Useful for announcements or winding down a campaign. A seasonal ice cream shop might post daily about new flavors at the beginning of the summer, then reduce the frequency as the season ends.
Spike: Frequency increases, peaks, and then decreases - perfect for peak campaign times like Black Friday.
Valley: Frequency starts strong, dips mid-campaign, then increases again (e.g., a travel agency promoting a new travel guide with varying intensity).
Step 4: Once the AI has generated your series of posts, you'll see a preview of each post - including images, content, and scheduled time. You can edit each post as needed or use the calendar interface to drag them to a different date/time.
Step 5: After you have reviewed your series and made any adjustments, click “Save and Schedule”. Your posts will now appear in your calendar view, ready to go live at the right time.
Creating consistent and engaging content has never been easier with the Series Planner. Whether you're preparing for a campaign, sharing tips, or running a seasonal promotion, this feature helps you plan ahead, stay organized, and maintain an active presence across your social media platforms.
